Art, culture and history are important components of public space and socio-spatial urban development. The areas of activity of our Urban Culture department include art in architecture, art in urban space and cultural urban and location development in the Berlin-Mitte district. The tasks relate to the promotion and support of the public cultural landscape in Mitte by initiating central networking projects and advising applicants for art projects in public urban spaces. In close cooperation with the expert commission for art in buildings and art in urban spaces, we discuss cross-sectional issues relating to art in public spaces and public construction projects as well as issues relating to the preservation and conservation of existing cultural assets.
