Day of Architecture: Percent for Art along Leipziger Straße

Percent for Art

29. Jun 2024

11:00-12:30

On the occasion of the Day of Architecture, the Mitte Museum invites you to a guided tour along Leipziger Straße on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11 a.m.

During the tour, you will explore artworks that shape the city’s image yet are often overlooked. Art not only adorns buildings but also helps us understand how the city was conceived, perceived, and constructed. With a special focus on architecture-related art from the GDR era, the tour traces artistic imprints of urban history as we move from Schlossplatz along Leipziger Straße.

The tour starts at the Staatsratsgebäude (now ESMT – European School of Management and Technology Berlin) at Schlossplatz 1 and ends in front of the Embassy of the Czech Republic at Wilhelmstraße 44.

Date: Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11 a.m.

Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours (around 3 km)

Guide: Edouard Compere, art historian and CAMPI Fellow at the Mitte Museum

Meeting Point: Schlossplatz 1, in front of the former Staatsratsgebäude (now ESMT – European School of Management and Technology Berlin)

This event is a collaboration between the Departments of Urban Culture, Memory Culture, and History of the Mitte District.
