Olof Palme Community Centre
The Olof-Palme-Zentrum (OPZ) at Demminer Straße 28, 13355 Berlin, is a children’s and youth centre as well as a community centre run by the independent organisation Pfefferwerk Stadtkultur gGmbH. With its wide range of services for children, young people, families and the neighbourhood, the OPZ has played a key role in the social fabric of the urban district for many years. In order to meet growing demand, the centre is currently undergoing a generous expansion. The aim is to create additional rooms for counselling, education and socialising, thereby significantly strengthening the existing range of services.
Completion and inauguration of the extension and the art on the building are planned for June 2026.
Percent-for-Art Competition
In connection with this construction project, the Berlin-Mitte District Office is holding a single-phase, closed and anonymous art competition in accordance with the Bau (ABau) directive. The aim is to create a work of art for the building that has been designed specifically for this location and is characterised by its artistic originality. The jury will meet on 9 March 2026. The results will be published on this website shortly thereafter.
