Square at Wedding City Hall

The area surrounding the town hall and library (Müllerstraße 146–147, 13353 Berlin) lies within the east-west “education corridor” stretching from the Virchow Clinic to the northern end of Leopoldplatz, and is one of the most important public spaces in the Berlin-Wedding district. As the square, created in the early 1960s with the construction of the new town hall, had begun to show its age, it was to be transformed into a place for the urban community once again through a contemporary open-space design. As part of this redesign, based on plans by the landscape architecture firm ANNABAU, a work of art was also created: a floor mosaic by the artist Mariana Castillo Deball.
